Self Defense Programs

Victimized and at-risk women and children can find comfort, power, and healing in learning how to defend themselves.  Green Tara Project provides self defense programs ranging from one-time classes to lengthier and more in-depth multi-day classes.  Programs can accommodate different class sizes, different cultures, and be customized to support the empowerment aims of any organization.

GTP specifically chooses effective self defense techniques that are:

  • Effective
  • Easy to learn
  • Easy to retain
  • Easy to execute regardless of physical fitness level

All classes are culturally and demographically appropriate, as well as being highly collaborative to ensure participant engagement.

You can choose from the following programs:

In this one-time class, Green Tara Project teaches a self defense seminar that covers basic Physical Self Defense Techniques, basic Mental Self Defense Techniques, and Life Skills. Complimentary life skills such as situational awareness are also incorporated. Class participation is tracked; students must attend the mandatory six hours in order to test. The program yields a certificate for the participants who pass. Learning outcomes for this training include, but are not limited to:

  • Proficiently perform several striking and escape techniques
  • Proficiently perform targeting
  • Identify predatory behavior and name pre-incident indicators
  • Define a boundaries and learn how to say 'no'; the importance of intuition; valuing oneself

This Level 2 program builds on the skills participants learned in Level 1. Level 1 is a pre-requisite for this class. Level 2 training outcomes include, but are not limited to:

  • Proficiently perform combinations of strikes and escapes
  • Fight from the ground
  • State 5 characteristics of being groomed by a predator

Green Tara Project sees self defense not as an optional one-time class for females, but as an ongoing skill building exercise that is essential to securing personal safety. Green Tara Project can with you and your organization to develop a turn-key personal safety program. If your organization wants to be the beacon of learning and empowerment for women and girls, self defense education can be the jewel in the crown of your offerings.
